First visit to the doctor

Not really, if you count well baby check-ups, but it was his first sick-baby visit to the doctor. It all started Thursday morning, he woke and was just kind of wheezy, I assumed he was conjested and we started the steam showers and humidifiers and hot water on the stove, the house was a sauna! That night was awful! He woke up every couple hours and just couldn't seem to get comfy, and he was breathing so loud (wheezing really) that even when he did fall asleep I couldn't. Friday it finally got so bad and he was so miserable we called the doctor. After the receptionist and the nurse heard him over the phone they told us to come straight down, which really isn't a good sign. We got there and talked to the doctor, told her about our horrible night, and she listened to his lungs. Turned out there was no congestion, his little airways are inflamed! It is a form of croup called strider, no fun! Originally the doctor was going to send us off with a prescription for some steroids, but the more we talked and the more she watched our little sickie the more she realized it was pretty bad. So he got to do a breathing treatment and have a steroid shot. He was a champ, he kept the mask on for almost the entire breathing treatment, as we looked at books and sang songs so he wouldn't try to take the mask off. That night he slept much better, and the next morning the nurse called to see if he was doing ok, which I thought was so considerate. He got a little tablet of steroids on Saturday afternoon, but he is still a little wheezy, which they say could last for a week, but he's sleeping and eating and doesn't seem too bothered by it, so all in all the first doctor visit was eventful!

Also, I'm pretty sure he got roid rage! Fri and Sat night he was going around trying to bite people, kept wanting to pinch me (really hard!), and would walk up to me look me straight in they eyes and smack me on the leg! It was actually really funny, because it's so not like him to be so crazy and violent.
This is Malachi wearing his breathing treatment mask, don't his eyebrows just say it all! Poor kiddo.

Oh, poor little boy! We've had a couple of those ER visits. Those are some scary nights for sure! I'm glad you were at your parents though... that makes it a bit more comforting.

I'm sorry! I hope he's ok soon! Two of my nieces have had to wear little dinosaur masks like that to do breathing treatments. Not fun! Hopefully it'll all be better soon.
